ODHA 85th Annual Session

[Category: Annual Session]

ODHA S 85th Annual Session was held on November 14-16 at Cherry Valley Lodge.

Aint no stopping us now was the theme song that outgoing President, Suzy Savanick, District V Trustee, Denise Bowers, and the executive council kicked off the weekend to. There was no stopping the energy that filled the room. It was bound to be a productive weekend. During opening ceremonies, there were six awards presented. Please refer to Scholarship/Awards tab on our homepage, on the left taskbar for this years awards recipients. President Savanick ended her term with a luau celebration at her reception. The music, grass skirts, flowered attire and leis all added to the festivities of the evening.

Saturday was a day packed with business, networking and mentoring. We began with a breakfast for all members and students. ODHA S silent auction was held at the breakfast this year. Thanks to all who contributed items and to all who participated in the successful auction. Also, thank you to Laclede/Biotene, SDI and Medical Products Inc. for their large sponsorship dollars which made this breakfast possible! Immediately following were the Reference Committee Hearings. We had a great group of individuals who served on Reference Committees this year. Thank you all for your time, effort and dedication!

The lunch program this year was designed to educate and motivate all who attended. ODHA S senior delegate, Linda Hewetson along with Amber Fifer, Angie Demko and Anne Henry, designed a program to inform all members of ADHA s strides and progress in the branding and growth campaign. The success depends upon change that will take place at the constituent and component levels.

There was a new program this year that District V Trustee, Denise Bowers coordinated. Meet, Eat and Compete was a competition for the students around the State of Ohio. Prizes were awarded to the 3 top teams. At the conclusion of the program, table clinic coordinator, Patti Milam, announced the three top winners. There were 51 table clinics this year. A special thank you goes out to Patti and all who helped judge the clinics. Your time and dedication was much appreciated! Thanks to ODHA Student Council and to The Academy of Dental Hygiene Studies for sponsoring this program. Their support allowed us to have an incredible spread of food for the students.

The weekend ended with ODHA President Jeanne Huber and theme Welcome! Tell a Friend, Bring a Friend. She has and will continue to encourage us all to bring our friends and colleagues to participate in events.

I m truly honored to have served you all in the past year as your Vice President of The Ohio Dental Hygienists Association. I look forward in the upcoming years to continue to serve you all. Thank you,

Angie Demko, RDH
Immediate Past Vice President
President-Elect
